During my many months of Bikram Yoga, I have seen students achieve their personal goals, from weight loss to increased strength, muscle tone and flexibility…

Adding therapeutic massage to your workout will not only help you in your Bikram practice but will also help relieve any tightness or pain you might have in your body. Therapeutic Massage has been proven, to reduce stress, improve blood circulation and promote weight loss.

Massage should not be seen as a luxury, but rather as way to maintain and fine- tune your body. We take our cars in for regular maintenance and a tune up, why not treat your body the same way? Therapeutic massage is an essential part of your regular workout and can help you achieve your goals better and faster. It is designed to bring each individual peace of mind and relaxation while providing deep work on muscles, adding flexibility, and helping your body detoxify.

Raindrop Technique :

Raindrop Technique uses a sequence of essential oils that are immune enhancing, support the body's natural defenses, as well as the circulatory, respiratory, endocrine, digestive, nervous, and other body systems. These oils, which are high in antioxidants, are also mood elevating and antiseptic, creating an unfavorable environment for harmful viruses and bacteria that can hibernate in the body. Essential oils are known to boost stamina and energy, help you relax, help manage stress and frustration and promote overall health, vitality, and longevity.

The oils are first applied to the soles of both feet using a technique called Vitaflex. They are then dispensed in little drops from a height of about six inches above the back, which is where Raindrop Technique gets its name. They are then massaged along the spine and back muscles using a series of light feathering strokes along with deeper work.

The whole process takes between 60 and 90 minutes so please plan some additional time for your session. Effects of the Raindrop Technique maybe be felt up to one week following the Session, with possible realignment and bodily adjustment taking place during this time. As this is a potent detox for the body it is important to drink plenty of water following the session to aid the body in flushing out all unwanted toxins.

Essential core massage

The ultimate back massage experience!

This massage integrates deep tissue, aromatherapy and hot stones to bring you a unique relaxing and rejuvenating experience.

The session begins with a full body massage. Special attention is then given to the back and spine with Raindrop therapy. Nine oils are dispensed like drops of rain from about six inches above the back, lightly massaged along the spine, over the rest of the back and on the feet. The spine and feet house the nerve endings for the entire body. When applied to these areas the essential oils are quickly dispersed throughout the body.

Raindrop therapy is a must for anyone with scoliosis, back pain, muscle tightness. This light yet very effective massage is the perfect complement to your Bikram Yoga practice.

Hot stones are then placed along the spine. The heat allows the body to completely absorb the oils and prepare back and shoulder muscles for the final deep tissue back massage

90+ minute massage:$125

FAQ

Frequently Asqued Questions :

Will I Be Covered During The Session?
You will be properly covered at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.

What Parts Of My Body Will Be Massaged?
You and I will discuss the desired outcome of your session. This will determine which parts of your body require massage.
A typical full-body session will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck, and shoulders

Will Lubricant Be Used?
A light oil or lotion may be used to permit your muscles to be worked without causing excessive friction to the skin. The lubricants used should hydrate the skin and be readily absorbed. I use natural organic products, some may be lightly scented. Please let me know if you have any allergies so we can tailor the session to meet your needs.

What Will the Massage Or Bodywork Feel Like?
It depends on the techniques used. In a general Swedish massage, your session may start with broad, flowing strokes that will help to calm your nervous system and ease exterior muscle tension.
As your body unwinds, pressure will gradually be increased to relax and relieve specific areas of muscular tension. Let me know immediately if you feel any discomfort so that another approach may be taken. Remember it’s not about pain. A deep massage shouldn’t be painful. Massage and bodywork are most effective when your body is not resisting.

Are There Different Kinds Of Massage And Bodywork?
There are numerous types of massages and bodywork. Various techniques utilize different strokes, including basic rubbing strokes, rocking movement, posture and movement re-education, application of pressure to specific points, and more. Ask me about the methods I like to use.

How Long Will The Session Last?
The average full-body massage or bodywork session lasts approximately one hour. Many people prefer a sixty-to-ninety-minute session for optimal relaxation. Always allow relaxation time prior to and after the session. Hot tubs, steam baths, and saunas can assist in the relaxation process. You may use the changing room and showers available at the yoga studio after your session, although if essential oils are used, it is better to let them absorb in to your skin for the rest of the day to maximize their full benefits.

What Should I Do During The Massage Or Bodywork Session?
Make yourself comfortable. I will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). Many people just close their eyes and completely relax. Others like to talk during their session. Feel free to ask me questions about massage and bodywork in general or about the particular technique you are receiving. Relax and enjoy your hour of peace.

Where Will My Massage or Bodywork Session Take Place?
Your massage or bodywork session will take place in the Bikram Yoga massage room. Soft music may be played to help you relax.

Who Will Perform The Massage Or Bodywork?
Your session will be conducted by me, Julien Griffault, holistic massage practitioner, certified by Health Choices holistic school of massage.

Must I Be Completely Undressed?
Most massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, you may decide what amount of clothing you prefer to wear for your own comfort. You will be properly covered during the session. Some sessions more geared towards stretching may require you to stay clothed with just short and a T-shirt.

Will The Practitioner Be Present When I Disrobe? The practitioner will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with the massage sheet.

How Will I Feel After The Massage Or Bodywork Session?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling tired, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity, which can last for days. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues during a massage, it is recommended you drink plenty of water afterward.

What Are The Benefits Of Massage and Bodywork?
Massage and bodywork can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. Massage and bodywork are also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety, and create an overall sense of well being.

Are There Any Medical Conditions That Would Make Massage Or Bodywork Inadvisable?
Yes. That's why it's imperative that before you begin your session, the practitioner asks general health questions. It is very important that you inform the practitioner of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage or bodywork prior to any session. Many practitioners may require a recommendation or approval from your doctor.
